Every home has its own personality. No home is the same. Even if the homes are built by the same contractor in the same sub division, just like the most similar pair of identical twins, there are going to be features about one house that the other will not share. Because there are so many different homes and options in the world, there is definitely going to be a home that is more fitting for one family, couple or individual than others. The trick is finding the best fit.

The first step in hunting for the home that will fit ones needs is to pick the state and city. Each state has its own pluses and minuses. Some states have higher taxes than others. Some states have no geographical features that one may want. The culture in some states would bore the heck out of some people. For example, if one does not like the cold and likes to have fun and party, Utah is not the place for them. More importantly than the state, which is usually not chosen by the individual given they live where they are raised or where they have employment, is the city. Most metropolitan areas have a lot of different cities and communities which have very distinct personalities and culture. For example, in the Phoenix valley, queen creek was traditionally country hicks and cowboy types, Gilbert, Mesa, and Chandler are all awesome family suburbs, Tempe is a college town atmosphere, and Scottsdale a uppity childless richer atmosphere. All of the towns are close to each other and in fact most touch each other but each city is different in what they offer and attract. Discovering or understanding through hands on research the pluses and minuses of all the neighboring cities is critical in the hunt for the right home.

The next thing a home hunter should look for is a home that is in the boundaries of good schools. Grade school, middle school and high school are all important levels of education for the schools to have high ratings but especially high school. Even if the home owner has no desire to have kids or has no children at the time and plans on moving before the children get too old, a neighborhood with good schools will attract classier buyers in the future and classier neighbors, which means that the good schools will help maintain and improve the value of ones home. Most people do have children and most home owners want their child to have a good education so they can become successful.

Lastly, as any person searches for a home, they should search for a home in a neighborhood that is experiencing growth in its prices. A neighborhood that is experiencing growth in its prices, which almost all real estate does is a good sign that the neighborhood is healthy and is not attracting a low end ownership group unlike a neighborhood that is seeing depreciation given so many owners do not take care of their home.
