How regular exercise helps to improve your immune system

The immune system of your body is responding to fight off viruses. With a strong immune system and a healthy body, your body can remain disease-free and you can lead a healthier lifestyle.

All your organs need to perform their best to protect your body against viruses.

You can strengthen your immune system through many different ways such as a healthy diet, active lifestyle, quit smoking and drinking, etc.

However, your immune system will only become strong and effective only if you inculcate a total lifestyle change in your routine. Diet or physical activity alone won’t help you to strengthen your immune system, it’s a combination of everything that will promote your immune system.

Apart from your diet, being physically fit is very important for your immune system. Regular workout and vitamin C play a vital role in strengthening your immune system.

Wondering how exercising can improve your immune system? Well, you have only heard how it can only make you physically fit.

Here is the answer-

  • Working out regularly improves the health of your heart and reduces your chances of developing heart diseases.
  • Exercising also helps to keep your bones strong and healthy
  • Physical activities help to flush out bacteria and toxins from your lungs which helps to keep you away from cold, flu, and other diseases related to your lungs and respiratory tract.
  • Working out leads to an increase in the antibodies and WBCs in the body. WBCs are immune system cells known as the warriors of our bodies as they fight diseases. When you perform physical activity, the circulation of the antibodies or WBCs increases. This rapid circulation helps them to detect illnesses earlier than usual and initiate a response in advance.
  • When you work out in the gym or perform any physical activity like jogging or cycling, your body temperature rises. This prevents bacteria from growing and helps the body to fight infections.
  • Physical activities slow down the release of stress hormones in the body and increase levels of testosterone. Lower stress hormones mean you are less prone to diseases.

These were a few different ways in which working out and physical activities improve your immune system and make you internally fit and strong. Just make sure your workout is backed up by an adequate supply of vitamins and supplements.

Exercising and taking vega one protein share not only makes you and your immune system strong, but it also helps you to feel more energetic, happy and mentally fit as well. It increases your self-confidence and makes you feel good about yourself.

But there is one thing that you always need to keep in mind – working out in moderation is beneficial for your immune system, but if you overdo it, then it can harm your immune system.

How to exercise during a pandemic

As discussed above, working out and performing physical activities is very important for your immune system especially during the times of pandemic outbreaks like the novel coronavirus. The main reason behind that is, you need your immune system to be extremely strong to fight against the virus. As there are no medicines and vaccines available, your immune system is the only cure for it.

Along with working out you also need to take care of your diet and make sure that you are supplementing yourself with immunity-boosting supplements and foods.

However, due to the spread of the virus, the world is pretty much under lockdown with the gyms, parks, aerobics studios, playgrounds shut completely.

But this doesn’t mean you should stop working out. You can work out anywhere and anytime, you don’t necessarily need a gym, studio, or class for that. All you need is will and determination, and if you have that then, your home space too can become the best place to workout.

The best way to stay fit during a pandemic is by working out at your home. However, exercising at home won’t be as effective as working out in the gym or outside, but it has its perks and benefits which are as follows:

  • Home workout is less time consuming as you don’t have to travel to the gym, studio, or park. All you need to do is get ready and start your workout.
  • At home, you can even make other members of your family workout with you. If the kids see you working out, it motivates them as well to stay healthy and active.
  • You need to worry about the timings. You can start and end your workout at any hour of the day at your convenience.
  • You can easily set up a workout routine at home and follow the same daily.
  • When working out at home you can put your favorite music or TV show or anything that motivates you.
  • You get complete privacy at home and you won’t get self-conscious as no one else is watching you.
  • You can work out at your own pace unlike how you have to hurry in the gyms as others are waiting to use the machines.
  • Your home environment and the atmosphere are many cleaners as compared to the gym as you are the only one working out there.
  • You can wear whatever you want for working out at home.

If the above benefits have inspired you enough to get up and start working out at home then before doing so, you will have to get yourself equipped with a few basic types of equipment which will help to make your workouts more effective.

  • An exercise mat
  • Resistance bands or tubes
  • A couple of dumbbells
  • Kettlebell
  • Stability ball
  • A pull up bar which you can attach to your door frame
  • Skipping rope

One important thing that you need to keep in mind is that the above equipment will help to make your workout more effective and advanced. You can work out even if you have none of the above equipment using your body weight. That means you don’t have any excuse for not working out!

So just get up, wear your gym clothes, turn up the music and start sweating it out at your home.
