3 Content Strategies for Bloggers

The articles telling you to write unique content or tackle issues that are high up on Google trends at the moment are missing the real point of having a blog.
Below are three content writing strategies for a successful blog.

Don’t tackle old issues unless you have a very concise bit of opinion or information to add

There are some things that people are simply not going to read about because they are sick of reading about it. Things such as the deaths of celebrities that happened over six months ago, or issues that you are expected to tackle at school. You should not limit what you write because it is boring–in that if you want to write about an old issue because you feel it is important then feel free, but do not expect a big reaction from your readers. Try to offer something that is useful to people. Try to give people some information that they would not have thought to look for, but that is never the less interesting. If you have something new to add to the debate or issue then feel free to write a post about it, but make it clear in the title that you are tackling the issue from a different angle.

Don’t write about things you are not 100% sure about

People often write about subjects that they think they are experts on when they are not. If you are not sure about an issue then do some research into it. Do not just start writing down what you think is correct because people will spot the errors and simply unsubscribe from your RSS feed. When you do your research, you must ask questions about your own material. As you write your blog, try to imagine your reader’s reaction. Content is the king for any blog so content writing is a big factor for running a successful blog. Will they think that a certain fact is a bit too unbelievable? How can you prove it? Are your counter arguing to something they already believe? If so then how are you going to convince them to change their minds? If you can poke holes in your own content then you cannot be 100% sure about the subject of the content you are writing about.

Write about things that stimulate your interests

You will write with far more enthusiasm on an issue that you are interested in. It will show in your content writing. Your interest in the subject will shine through in your writing and make it a much more interesting read. You will often have a more in-depth knowledge of things that interest you, and will be able to fill your page out with interesting snippets of information, which would not be present if you were not interested in the material.
