4 Ways to Bring Your Small Business Team Closer Together

In any business team work is an essential part of everything running smoothly, but in smaller businesses this becomes more critical and important. Bringing your team closer together can have so many benefits for not only your business, but your staff too. You’ll see higher job satisfaction rates, increased productivity, and a better sense of community which may shine through to your customers, too. Life is busy and focusing on team building can fall to the bottom of your priorities list, but I hope you make 2023 the year to focus on your staff. Here are my top 4 ways to bring your small business team closer together.

1. Fun Team Building Exercises
I think staff parties are a critical business expense, but most companies only host one or two staff parties a year. Those alone are not enough to build a strong sense of community within your small business’ team. Why not set up regular, maybe every month or two, team building exercises. It can be something as small as spending a morning using the best crossbows on an archery course. Or maybe it’s working together to fix up an old car – if you’d like to learn more about some great engines you can purchase, check out this link.

2. Some Friendly Competition
This is a great way to build up some momentum in your office while also making the workplace more fun. You can have some competition in the form of a monthly raffle with prizes, or even just prizes for “the best employee of the month.” If your company tracks sales, this could be a great way to up the ante and to ensure everyone is hustling their most. Make sure you choose some great prizes like some Sun Pan furniture, click here to learn more about what options they have right now.

3. Have Collective Goals
Ensuring that your team has goals that they’ve participated in creating and negotiated together can be huge for teamwork and a sense of community. It means that everyone has their sights on the same thing together, so it’s clearer the steps needed to take to get there. A good way to set this up is to have a monthly meeting where goals are discussed, new goals are outlined, and everyone has a chance to contribute their ideas. This is very manageable in a small business landscape, but if your business is growing it could make more sense to divide your employees up into smaller teams so this doesn’t become overwhelming.
4. Resolve Conflict Fast
You want your employees to be able to trust you to properly handle conflict and to come up with solutions that work for all parties involved. This helps ensure a healthy climate in your workplace, but also allows your employees to relax a little because should they have issues amongst themselves, they know they can relax and that their boss will make it a priority to handle it. Unresolved conflict can cause huge issues within a team and can even spread to parties who weren’t originally involved should it stay unresolved for too long.

Bringing your small business team closer together can make such a big difference to so many aspects of your business and your employee’s happiness at work. I hope these tips inspire you to start 2023 off on the right foot by investing in your greatest asset – your staff.
