Poor vision is a part of life for an overwhelming number of people today. Long screen times during work hours that continue into our free time are a major part of the problem. More children than ever have bad eyesight as well. Our eyesight is one of the most important senses we have, so we should try to care for our eyes as much as we can. If you are looking for ways to improve your eye health, we have compiled a list of tips to help you. Read on to find out more.

Rest Your Eyes

Eye strain is almost normal nowadays, with symptoms like headaches, neck pains, blurred vision, and eye redness. Eye strain also leads to worsening of your eyesight. The best thing we can do for ourselves and our eyes is to reduce eye strain as much as possible. This can be done by taking frequent breaks from the computer and phone screens and going outside. Greenery and nature, in general, are soothing for our eyes and health. The eyes are static while looking at a screen, causing eye strain. Nature pushes our eyes to move around, thus strengthening them. Make frequent breaks away from the screen while working and look in the distance or out the window.

Eat Better

Diet is a big part of our health, including eye health. Healthy food full of vitamins and minerals can improve your eyesight and prevent damage. Citrus fruits have a lot of vitamin C which can improve the condition of the cornea. This will result in a sharper vision. Green vegetables also help with that. Food with omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, and other fish help with preventing eye diseases such as cataract. An overall healthy meal with lots of vegetables and protein, and avoiding junk food will significantly improve your eye health.

Wear Sunglasses

The Sun is good for our health and wellbeing but in moderation. Constant exposure to UV rays can damage the corneas, as well as increase the chance of developing a cataract. To prevent this from happening, try to go out when the sun is not so strong. This is important for people with sensitive eyes. A good pair of sunglasses can keep the harmful UV rays away and guard your eyes. Sun glare can be dangerous while it’s snowy, or if you are driving. Take extra precautions then.

Exercise and Sleep

As a healthy diet, sleep and exercise play a big role in your eye’s health. We need six to eight hours of sleep each night, and during this time the eyes get a chance to rest and recover. Sleep also helps with eye strain. Exercise is needed to keep our body fit and healthy, which directly slows the possibility of getting diabetes, and later glaucoma. Exercise helps reduce eye pressure and improve the blood flow to the retina. Combine it with outdoor scenery, and you have a perfect recipe to improve your eye health.

Visit Your Optometrist

Eye exams should be a regular thing, just like any other annual exam you have at the doctor’s. This is the best way to prevent possible diseases before they go out of hand. Glaucoma, for example, has no symptoms but can be spotted on a regular eye exam. A professional optometrist can provide general eye and diagnose most diseases early on. An ophthalmologist can treat eye diseases and perform surgery if needed. An eye exam can include a vision test, eye pressure and optic nerve tests, and microscopic examination of the eyes.

Pay Attention

If you notice changes in your eyesight like blurry vision, constant eye strain, headaches and should pain, or any other problem, make sure to schedule an appointment with your eye doctor. Prevention and regular appointments will help you keep your eyes in check. Ignoring the symptoms can only worsen your condition.

Do you have bad eye vision or any eye problem? Maybe blurred vision or headaches? Whatever you are facing, taking care of your eyes will help you slow down or even resolve the issue. Try not to give up if you don’t see the result yes. Make sure to never skip your eye check-ups.
