It’s no secret that the workplace has been evolving. In fact, many experts say the workplace of the future will be unrecognizable when compared to today. This is largely due to advances in technology, which have changed the way we work and communicate. But that’s not the only reason the workplace is changing. There are also demographic shifts taking place that are sure to have an impact on the workplace of the future. One of the biggest demographic shifts is the aging of the workforce.

According to the Pew Research Center, baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) are now the largest age group in the U.S. labor force. And as this group continues to age, they will be replaced by millennials (those born between 1981 and 1996). This generational shift is sure to have an impact on the workplace. For one, millennials are often more comfortable with using technology than older workers. They’re also more likely to value work-life balance and flexible work arrangements.

As more millennials enter the workforce, companies will need to adapt to these changing preferences. Another demographic shift that’s taking place is the increasing diversity of the workforce. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, minorities made up about 33% of the workforce in 2015. By 2025, that number is expected to rise to 38%. This increasing diversity will bring new perspectives and skills to the workplace. And it will also create new challenges for employers.

For example, employers will need to be aware of the potential for cultural misunderstandings and conflict. They’ll also need to be sure that their workplace policies and practices are inclusive of all employees. The workplace is changing, and human resources such as Workday will need to adapt. The good news is that the skills and knowledge that HR professionals have are more important than ever. So if you’re looking for a career that will be in demand in the future, human resources is a great choice.
