How productive are your employees? Do you feel like they’re reaching their potential? Being productive is even more difficult nowadays than it’s ever been. There’s always something on our phones ready to steal our attention and to distract us. I firmly believe that the people who are best able to control distractions and remain productive, will rise above the rest of us because they’ll be able to achieve so much more than the average person! If you’d like to see how productive your employees can be and gently encourage them to reach their potential, keep reading to learn more about my favorite simple ways to improve productivity in your business.
1. Encourage Sports
There are so many ways you can encourage sports within a company, from starting your own sports team like a badminton team (and playing on it too!) through giving an extra hour or two a week off for your employees to pursue their own sports and exercise regimes. You can also offer a gym membership each month as part of the bonus for working for you. Your employees will love that you’re focused on their health and fitness, and I’m sure they’ll feel much more productive and motivated in the office too. Not only will they appreciate that you care about their health and hobbies, but they’ll also be working out, so they’ll be healthier, and better able to focus with all those feel good endorphins floating around their body. It’s a win when you look at it from all angles!
2. Curb Distractions
There are so many ways you can cut down daily distractions, but as an employer one of the best ways you can do so is by minimizing the number of emails everyone receives. You can encourage, depending on your business and how it works, a set time each day for emails to be checked and make it industry standard that emails will not be checked constantly. This allows your employees to have some clear distraction free time to work through other parts of their business.
3. Have Regular Goal Meetings
If you don’t measure something, it’s hard to stay focused and to keep on track. Having regular goal meetings with your employees will help keep them motivated and focused on the bigger picture things you need them to move ahead with. How often you organize the goal meetings will depend on so many factors within your company, but I would suggest at least once a month at a minimum. Helping your employees stay accountable for their responsibilities and the steps required to achieve them is a great way to encourage momentum to move forward.
4. Consider The 80/20 Rule
There’s a theory that 20% of the work gets 80% of the results. With that in mind, what are those tasks that take up 20% of your employees time but get the majority of the results? I would have them focus on those, whether it’s 20% of your clients that bring in 80% of the sales or the products within your business that generate the majority of the income. This can be a great way to hone done on your employee’s productivity by focusing on the things that bring real results.
I hope these tips help you improve your employee’s productivity so you can see an increase in profits and income in the new year!
