TRICKS TO PERFORM WELL IN EXAMINATIONS

Those few days are the most crucial days of a student’s life as his/her promotion to the next level of learning depends on his/her result. The students try their best to perform well and in that effort they not only forget about eating and sleeping on time but their entire routine goes hay-way.

  • Plan your revision

For accomplishing any task, it’s important to plan it properly. Thus when you start your preparations for the exams, it’s imperative that you are able to revise all topics within the limited time.

  • Take short notes

Writing lengthy summary will not help you. As within the limited time, you have to do the maximum. In that case it’s necessary to take short notes or concise that summary with only value points and once you read those value points, your one chapter/topic is prepared.

  • Work in colour

Working in colour means that you can use highlighters or coloured pens to write notes. Making your notes colourful will not only remove that monochromatic colour scheme but colour codes will really help you remember information better. The associated colour will lend a vivid imprint and information will come instantly to you.

  • Trick of 3

It is simply a plan of revising each topic three separate times but how to achieve it. Once you revise a topic, go to the next but before you go to the next topic, return to the topic you have revised earlier, go through it and then return to the topic you were revising. The same pattern can be maintained for the other topics. Thus besides moving forward with your revision you can go back and revise too.

  • Mark the topics/chapters  you have completed

This exercise is particularly important as it gives a feeling of accomplishment. If you mark the topics/chapters you have covered, it will help in keeping you relaxed for the fact that you are going as per your plan of revision.

. Understand to remember

Cramming up everything you read, is not ideal preparation for the examination. It is very important that you understand what you read and if you do that then remembering that topic will not be difficult and revision will become easy.

  • Declaim your revision

It is also suggested that if you are finding it difficult to remember, then you can plan your revision by reciting your notes.

  • Teach someone else

It is one of the best practices of revision. If you teach your peer, it helps in clarity of concept both for the person you are taught and for the person who is teaching. This two- way process comes as a very handy trick of revision.

  • Take fixed breaks from revision

If you are doing some work for a long time, it is natural that monotony sets in. You feel exhausted and tired. So if you take a break of 15 minutes every 2 hours, then it will rejuvenate you and you will see that the topic that you were finding it difficult to revise, after the break, you were able to do it quickly.

  • Have adequate sleep

It is important to have 8 hours of sleep daily but this number during exams become insignificant. Most of the students sleep for 3-4 hours and some a day before the exam donot sleep the whole night but this is an unhealthy practice, if you sleep less then you will be unable to concentrate, find logical conclusions or for that matter answer even the easiest of questions.

  • Eat healthy food

Another thing that most of the students do is avoid eating food but this is not the solution. On the contrary, your body needs food to keep you active. So you must eat foods that are healthy. The food that will keep you energetic are-Fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, Non-caffeinated beverages, Lean proteins, Whole grains and complex carbs, Nuts and seeds and lots and lots of Water.

  • Limit your technology use

A few days away from your favourite gadget will also help you in doing well in the exams.  Distraction caused by them hampers your concentration and preparedness.  So limit your technology use during the exams.
