A Holistic Approach To Nursing – Being A Holistic Nurse

Holistic nursing is a specialized field of nursing that focuses on the whole person, rather than just their physical symptoms or illnesses. It is a holistic approach that takes into account the patient’s emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, as well as their physical health. Holistic nurses are trained to use a variety of complementary therapies and therapies to help patients achieve optimal health and well-being.

Obtaining holistic nurse certification in the United States is a multi-step process that requires education, experience, and examination.

Step 1: Education

The first step towards becoming a holistic nurse is to obtain a nursing degree. This can be either an associate degree in nursing (ADN), a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), or a master of science in nursing (MSN). The ADN and BSN programs typically take two and four years, respectively, while an MSN program can take two years or more.

After completing your nursing education, you will need to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses (RNs) or Practical Nurses (PNs) in order to become licensed to practice as a nurse.

Step 2: Experience

After obtaining your nursing license, you will need to gain experience working as a nurse in order to be eligible for holistic nurse certification. While there is no specific requirement for how long you must work as a nurse, you will need to have experience working in a holistic nursing setting or with holistic therapies. This could include working in a hospital or clinic that offers complementary therapies, such as acupuncture, massage therapy, or herbal medicine, or working in a hospice or long-term care facility that focuses on patient-centered care.

Step 3: Examination

The final step in obtaining holistic nurse certification is to pass the certification examination. The American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) is the main organization that offers certification for holistic nurses in the United States. The AHNA offers two levels of certification: the Holistic Nurse – Board Certified (HNB-BC) and the Holistic Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified (HNP-BC). The HNB-BC is for registered nurses and the HNP-BC is for advanced practice registered nurses.

Both the HNB-BC and HNP-BC certification exams are based on the AHNA’s Holistic Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. The exam tests your knowledge and skills in areas such as holistic nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation; complementary therapies; and patient-centered care.

Once you pass the certification examination, you will be awarded the HNB-BC or HNP-BC designation and will be able to use the title “holistic nurse” or “holistic nurse practitioner.” You will also need to renew your certification every five years by meeting continuing education requirements and by passing a recertification exam.

If you want to prepare properly for the holistic nurse certification, you can check the Transformative Nurse Coach Certificate Program by The Nurse Coach Collective.

The Nurse Coach Collective is a community of nurses who are dedicated to helping their fellow nurses reach their full potential. They offer a 7-month online program that is designed to help nurses become holistic nurses.

The Nurse Coach Collective’s 7-month online program is designed to help nurses learn the skills they need to become effective holistic nurses. The program is broken down into three main sections: the first section focuses on the theory and principles of holistic nursing; the second section focuses on the practical aspects of holistic nursing; and the third section focuses on the business side of holistic nursing.

The first section of the program covers the theory and principles of holistic nursing. This includes topics such as the history of holistic nursing, the different types of holistic nursing, and the importance of holistic nursing in today’s healthcare system. The second section of the program focuses on the practical aspects of holistic nursing. This includes topics such as how to assess a patient’s emotional, spiritual, and social needs, how to provide holistic care, and how to develop a holistic care plan. The third section of the program focuses on the business side of holistic nursing. This includes topics such as how to market your services, how to set up a holistic nursing practice, and how to build a successful business as a holistic nurse.

The 7-month online program is designed to be self-paced, which means that you can complete the program at your own pace. This is ideal for nurses who are currently working and cannot take time off to attend a traditional program. The program is also designed to be interactive, which means you will have the opportunity to interact with other nurses who are also taking the program. This will give you the opportunity to learn from others and to share your own experiences.

The Nurse Coach Collective also provides support throughout the program. You will have access to a community of nurses who are all taking the program, as well as access to the instructors. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback on your progress.

In summary, The Nurse Coach Collective’s 7-month online program for becoming a holistic nurse is an excellent opportunity for nurses who are looking to expand their skills and knowledge. It covers the theory, practice, and business aspects of holistic nursing, and provides the support and community to help nurses succeed. By completing the program, nurses will be able to provide more comprehensive care to their patients, and also have the opportunity to establish a successful business as holistic nurses.
