Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty Named One of 2022’s Best Mobile Games

As the popularity of mobile games continues to rise, video game companies, like Activision Blizzard, are working hard to meet gamer demands with new games and expansions of popular franchises. Pocket Tactics recently recognized that effort and compiled its list of the best mobile games for Android and iOS devices.

In order to accomplish that mission, Pocket Tactics played hundreds of thousands of mobile games. They analyzed every aspect to pinpoint the games that represent the essential history of smartphone gaming. “All we stipulate is that the game still has to be active and great to play today. We’re also only going to include one game per series, so we’ll generally (but not exclusively) go with the first rather than the best entry,” explained Pocket Tactics.

Miami-based gamer Seth Hernandez is thrilled to see that Call of Duty  Mobile, which was released in 2019, was on Pocket Tactics’ list. “I speak for a lot of gamers when I say that we waited a long time for CoD to come to mobile. But it was totally worth the wait,” says Hernandez. “I never expected to get such an adrenaline rush from the smartphone game.”

His 12-year-old twin sons’ favorite game, Among Us, also made the cut. “It’s a game about teamwork, which is a lesson we are constantly working on instilling in them,” notes Hernandez. “I have witnessed just how much playing Among Us has helped my children with their logic and social skills.”

Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Mobile Is a Fan Favorite

Bobby Kotick’s Activision Blizzard released its free-to-play shooter game Call of Duty: Mobile in October 2019. It was downloaded more than 270 million times the first year, which cemented it as one of the most successful game launches in history. “With free-to-play entry points across mobile, PC, and console, Call of Duty experienced an increase of over 100 million players in a little over a year,” explained Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.

According to Pocket Tactics gamers, what sets Call of Duty: Mobile apart from other first-person online shooter games is that it “is arguably the most comprehensive package of the lot. It bundles a slick, fast-paced multiplayer shooter with a more expansive Battle Royale mode. It looks and moves beautifully, too, with top-notch controller support and plenty of modes to try.”

According to Kotick, the Call of Duty: Mobile franchise “is the template we are applying to our proven franchises, as well as our new potential franchises as we attempt to grow our audiences to a billion players.”
