Written by Salim Javed, the movie is about two criminals, Veeru and Jai ( essayed by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan), hired by a retired police officer (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the dacoit, Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan).
