Candle Care Tips And Techniques

Make sure you allow the candle to burn evenly the first time it is lit. This will prevent tunnelling of wax and ensure even burning throughout the candle’s lifetime.

Avoid Heat And Light

Candle waxes, as well as fragrances, are sensitive to light and temperature. It is important to keep candles stored in a dry, cool place and away from direct sunlight. This will keep your candles safe from discolouration and fade. You should always remember this when selling candles. There are always samples you can keep on hand to show off your products, but make sure you have enough stock in the freezer so that you can sell them.

If you want your candles to be sold at retail stores, then it is worth taking some time to review the maintenance instructions.

Make Sure You Keep Your Wick Tidy!

You should ensure that your wick does not exceed 5mm at all times. Trimming the wick is recommended every 3 hours. To trim the wick, you should always extinguish your candle, let it cool to room temperature, and then remove any wick debris. We offer candle making supplies at a reasonable rate.

Burning candles for longer periods than three hours is not a good idea. We suggest that you allow the candle to cool for two hours before lighting it again after it has been burned for three hours.

Refer To The Half-Inch Wax Rule

Always check the candle container for any remaining wax. The wax should not be used if it is less than half an inch (1.27 centimetres). The container can heat when the flame is very close to the bottom of the lid. This will help reduce heat damage to your candle’s container.

Light Up Your Candle

When lighting your candles, use a candle snuffer. This will ensure that the wax doesn’t get ruined and the wick does not move. This will increase the burn time. We offer snuffers that come in three colours: gold, rose gold and chrome.

Votives

You must always use the right votive glassware for these types of candles. Low melt wax means that the wax will liquefy. The inside size of the votive glass should match the size of the candle. Otherwise, the flame may not reach the entire liquid wax. If the votive candles fit snugly into the glass, they will burn for longer.

Spilt Wax Removal

Make sure you allow candle wax to set before you try to remove it. Use paper towels, newspaper, or other materials to cover it and heat the iron at low heat. The spilt will melt and absorb into your paper.

Blackened Edges Of Glass

If your candle glasses start to darken from repeated use, make sure to trim the wick. Be sure to wait until the candle is fully extinguished, then cool it down before trying to remove the black marks with dry paper towels.

Ongoing Extinguishment Of The Wick

To extinguish candle flames, use a lightener. Avoid blowing out candle flames. Do not use water to extinguish the candle flames.
