In the beginning flex seals might seem to stop the engine oil for a matter of a few seconds or minutes but in the long-term within an hour the situation might get worse. Engine oil might start to overflow, hence breaking the flex seal with zero results. Because it could not stand heat and petroleum or diesel which lies at the heart of engine oil.

Most importantly, oil leakage might stop for a little time by causing the rubber to become soft or by swelling the dried flex seal on an engine oil.
