Siddharth Mahajan, a self-made man, had an illustrious educational career that served as a catalyst in his development as an entrepreneur and his subsequent success. After his schooling across cities like Kolkata, Gujarat, Indore, et al, Siddharth Mahajan arrived at Kerala to pursue his college education.
He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management at Oriental School of Hotel Management in 2002. This course included an International Hotel Hospitality Diploma from the esteemed American Hotel Lodging Association. He was then placed with a job in the Oberoi group of hotels in its Rajvilas property in Jaipur. Oberoi Rajvilas in Jaipur is a five-star hotel in India and was working as a Front Office Assistant and Supervisor till 2005.
After his stint in the Oberoi hotel, he set foot in London to explore more opportunities. In London he earned more experience through fulfilling, enriching work periods with various hotels.
All the experience gained through years spent in hotels of repute helped Siddharth Mahajan identify the demand and supply gaps in the hotel and hospitality industry. With an in-depth understanding of the market and an inclination towards creating an illustrious career, he embarked on a journey of professional excellence.
Siddharth Mahajan layout a business model according to which he would let out serviced apartments to travelers inclusive of all services and amenities like electricity, water, gas and internet connections. The idea was ingenious. He started by converting his own properties into HMOs. As his business grew, he began leasing properties to support the expansion and create additional apartments to be let out.
Over time he had seven properties in his name, operating as HMOs and 47 in the name of his business — Tulip Hotels and Real Estate Limited. His business spread to other parts of London and even to other parts of the world with an impressive list of clientele and brand collaborations. Mahajan attributes his success to his vocational choices and opportunities. While there are many examples in business to show that education does not amount to guaranteed success, Siddharth Mahajan does agree that education gives you the edge over others and the courage to step out of your comfort zone and explore multiple possibilities.
If not for the aptitude and skills, and the education qualification of Siddharth Mahajan, he could not have identified the opportunity that presented itself to him and set out to conceive an idea to meet the needs of the market. Siddharth’s goodwill from his university and his earlier workplaces provided the much-needed impetus in his new business, which grew exponentially within the first few years of its inception. This gave him huge fortunes and also rendered him one of the most important figures in the hospitality segment. Thus was created a robust brand – Tulip Hotels and Real Estate Ltd.
