As the Premier League season approaches, some of the news that is making the rounds is that Tottenham Hotspur have signed Ivan Perisic. The same is true of Everton, who have signed Fraser Forster. Meanwhile, Newcastle have signed Sven Botman. Leicester are also on the lookout for a replacement for Wesley Fofana.
Tottenham Hotspur signed Ivan Perisic
The Croatian international joined the club after leaving Inter. He was a regular starter for Inter last season and contributed eight goals and seven assists from 35 starts. He will likely play a defensive role for Tottenham. In a statement, Perisic said that he is delighted to be joining Spurs.
Everton sign Fraser Forster
Fraser Forster is a goalkeeper who is expected to be the No. 2 behind Hugo Lloris for the Toffees. Forster has won four Scottish Premierships with Celtic and three Scottish Cups. In addition, he won the Players’ Player of the Season award during his time at Norwich. The former Everton and Scotland international is set to join the team after Ivan Perisic joined Tottenham Hotspur.
Newcastle sign Sven Botman
The defender, a former Lille star, is likely to line up alongside Dan Burn for the Toon. His ability to repel aerial raids will provide a boost to Newcastle’s defence. However, Botman’s shortcomings are against fast forwards and he is uncomfortable in wide areas.
Leicester sign a replacement for Wesley Fofana
After a verbal agreement was reached on Friday, Chelsea and Leicester City are set to complete a transfer deal. Wesley Fofana, a defender, will join Chelsea on a seven-year deal, with the initial price of the deal being EUR82.5 million, with the possibility of further add-ons. Fofana will be the most expensive defender in Premier League history.
Manchester United sign a new signing
Manchester United have signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer from Brentford. The Danish winger had previously played for Intern Milan and Tottenham Hotspur. The 20-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Old Trafford. He had been on the radar of several other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Brentford. Many believed Eriksen would fit in well with United’s possession-based style.
Arsenal win 1-0 at Old Trafford
The Gunners have won their first game at Old Trafford since the move from Wembley to the Emirates Stadium. After a goalless first half, the Gunners looked to be on course for a big victory. But they are still far from being the favourites for the title. Manchester United, meanwhile, are second best in the league. With the win, Arsenal remain top of the table.
Fulham sign Djed Spence
Tottenham Hotspur have been on a recruitment spree since their Champions League qualification, with the likes of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Clement Lenglet all completing moves. Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Spence, a left-footed winger who is from London. The 20-year-old came through Fulham’s academy, before a move to Middlesbrough. Spence earned England Under-21 recognition in March.
West Ham sign Rodrigo Bentancur
After impressing in pre-season against West Ham, Tottenham have decided to sign Rodrigo Bentancur, a midfielder signed in January from Juventus. The Chilean is an impressive signing who is already having a positive impact on the club’s game. He is a solid and reliable performer who offers a different style of play to his opponents.
