Skin care is actually one of the first conditions of beauty of complexion. Women are known to apply between 4-6 pounds of cosmetic products to the skin annually. It’s not small, is it?
However, what when our daily care starts to do more harm than good?
We have prepared for you a quick guide to safe and long-term results when it comes to skin care. Because we can’t completely wipe away wrinkles, but we can soothe them and restore the most important things to our skin – youthful glow, energy, fullness and freshness.
Too much exfoliation can be harmful
It is quite OK to exfoliate the skin once a week, as this cleanses the pores and prepares the skin for the ensuing mask. However, this should not be done by rough means or rough movements, as this will damage the surface layer of the skin, whose role is to protect the skin from external influences. The function of peeling when it comes to skin care is to remove dead cells that make skin gray and energy-free, to stimulate skin regeneration and restore it. But careful and gentle!
Improper cleaning
Be sure to check their composition when purchasing facial cleansers. Do not use products containing soaps and alcohol as they dry out the skin. Dehydrated skin always looks older and shinier, wrinkles are deeper and more visible.
‘I’m tired, I’ll skip face cleansing.’
Often after a hard day we are too tired to devote ourselves. But don’t ever let fatigue overcome when it comes to cleansing your face. Thoroughly cleansing your skin will only take a few minutes and will release your skin with impurities and excess sebum of that makeup. In addition, the skin undergoes a detoxification process at night, and after 02h begins regeneration. Due to its exceptional activity during the night, the secretion of byproducts through the skin (cellular debris) is secreted. Therefore, morning cleansing is also necessary to remove the byproducts of cell work and excess sebum from the surface of the skin, and to release them for day care and make-up.
Too much exfoliation will not help oily skin
Many women even exfoliate their skin 3 times a week because they believe that exfoliation will reduce the secretion of sebum from the sebaceous glands. On the contrary, when the skin is too ’emptied’, the function of the sebaceous glands is accelerated because it is a natural mechanism of defending the skin from external influences. The result is even more oily skin.
Use a silk pillowcase
For a night’s sleep, experts recommend sleeping on a silk pillow. Namely, the friction that the skin has at night compared to the substrate causes the destruction of collagen, an important ingredient in preserving the skin’s youth without wrinkles. Compulsory skin care before bedtime is also a combination of serum and night cream, because it is night cream that contains ingredients that further stimulate skin renewal and detoxify it.
Sunglasses are not just fashion
When it comes to anti-age protection, wearing sunglasses whenever we are exposed to the sun is the number one prevention of wrinkling of the eye area. Specifically, the skin of the eye area is extremely thin and delicate, so wearing good quality sunglasses (the darker the better) is essential to prevent the first visible lines.
Additionally, it is important to know that our eyes are an extremely dynamic organ. The muscle that moves the eye on a daily basis makes about 100,000 movements (80 km), and we blink as much as 15,000 times a day, which is one of the reasons why the first mimic wrinkles occur precisely in the eye area.
Touching your face frequently
Every time we touch the skin with dirty hands, we apply bacteria to it. Especially in mixed and oily skin, bacteria multiply faster and cause infections, blackheads, pimples and acne. Therefore, reduce touching your face as much as possible and wash your hands as often as possible.
Irregular hygiene of make-up brushes
Wash your makeup brushes and sponges at least 2 times a week with gentle soap and dry them in the air. Do not keep wet brushes or sponges in the bathroom, as moisture helps to create bacteria that can then be applied to the skin.
Change linens more often
Bed linen should be changed at least once every 2 weeks, if not more frequently. Namely, impurities and dead cells from the skin are retained on the bedding and allow bacteria and mites to reproduce. Frequent change of bedding is especially important in sensitive skin as well as in the skin prone to excessive sebum secretion. Bedding should always be washed with gentle detergents at high temperatures (60 degrees minimum), and it is recommended to avoid softeners that can cause irritation (or at least select natural and gentler variants).
Sleeping With Loose Hair
Get rid of facial skin during the night to further ‘interact’ with your hair. Namely, if you do not wash your hair daily, it often carries environmental impurities in the form of dust, smog or sebum. So tie your hair in a light ponytail with a soft elastic band and remove the bangs from your face, giving your skin a real night’s rest.
Skin care in the wrong order of application of the product
After cleansing your face, an important step once a week is just exfoliating. After exfoliating the skin from dead cells, we apply the mask to the skin. The mask can also be applied 2-3 times a week, depending on the skin needs (tip: you can even use probiotics for skin care). The mask is followed by a serum whose active ingredients penetrate deep into the skin for maximum effect. We then apply our proper day or night face cream. We never, but never, ever apply face cream to the eye area, but use specially designed care.
You forget about skin hydration
Hydration is a basic need of all skin types, even oily skin and problematic acne prone skin. The skin regularly loses moisture, either because of the skin cells themselves or because of the external conditions (sun, high temperatures, heating during cold months, etc.). Therefore, the intake of water (at least 2 liters per day) with the necessary quality moisturizing care is necessary to prevent premature aging of the skin and to preserve its youthful freshness. Not enough sleep
The key time for skin detoxification is from 22h to 02h and for skin regeneration from 02h to 06h in the morning. In order for the skin to have sufficient time to renew and detox, it is necessary to give it sufficient sleep. Always choose nighttime creams before bedtime. Night Skin Care contains specially selected nutrients for nighttime detoxification and skin renewal.
Unhealthy habits and diet
Alcohol, cigarettes and sweets adversely affect skin quality and promote its premature aging. Alcohol and cigarettes have long been the main enemies of the skin leading to skin dehydration and premature wrinkling, while too much sugar causes the glycation of the skin proteins collagen, elastin and vimentin (sugar molecules bind to proteins and destroy them). So throw out the sweet and introduce into your diet foods rich in antioxidants such as berries, broccoli, spinach… which have anti-inflammatory properties against premature aging.
DO NOT shower with hot water
Hot water dries the skin and dehydrates it. As a consequence, the sebaceous glands enhance their function to protect the skin from drying out. Therefore, always wash your face with lukewarm to cold water, and try to avoid hot water during the shower or bath, preferring to be a degree lower, your skin will be grateful.
