In December 2013 Mary Jo Foley, reported that Microsoft is developing the operating system codenamed as “Threshold” which will be the updated operating system. In the Build Conference in April 2014 Terry Myerson from Microsoft said that they have developed the operating system Windows 8.1, which can run the Windows App Store in it.
This operating system was more advanced than that of the traditional start menu in Windows 8. Terry Myerson also said that these changes in the advanced version of the operating system will be there.
Announcement
During the Media event on 30th September 2014 the “Threshold” was officially announced by Microsoft and also announced that this operating system will be available by the name Windows 10. He also added that Windows 10 will restore the interfaces from Windows 7 which will improve the performance for the no touch screen devices.
On naming the operating system as Windows 10 instead of Windows 9, Terry Myerson said that “the products which will be coming and their approach to develop, it will not be good to call the new operating system as Windows 9, hence named as Windows 10.”
Release Of Windows 10
The announcement of the release date 29th July 2015, of Windows 10 was made by Microsoft on 1st June 2015. Microsoft also started the advertising campaign for Windows 10, as “Upgrade Your World”, in the countries Australia, Canada, Germany, United States, France, and also the United Kingdom. This advertisement was focused on the tag line “A More Human Way To Do”.
