Precautions You Must Take With Hot Food

Food poisoning is extremely common in the summer season. There are probably so many reasons behind it. It might happen due to the growth of bacteria which eventually become so much high in the summer season due to the humid and hot weather conditions. In the matter of the right conditions, it possibly happens that the bacteria can multiply so quickly and it can often contaminate food. Most of the time you do not get an idea about whether the food has been contaminated or not! Even though it is not contaminated, still you will feel that it is smelling nice and also taste better. 

But this is the wrong notion which is putting you and your family into the scenario of coming food poisoning.

You should be giving your food complete care and preparation at the time of serving and making food. This is much needed at the time of warmer months of the summer season.

You should first of all be setting the thermostat. You have to be careful in the fact that the temperature of the fridge has been below the range of 5 degrees. 

  1. You should be having your freezer at the temperature of around -15°C to around -18°C. Make sure you have already stocked up the cooler with the clean and fresh ice packs. If your family members are fond of eating meat and salad, then make sure that it is always kept in the freezer or cooler placement at the temperature of around 5°C or even less until and unless it is not completely cooked or even served.
  2. You should be keeping the hot food as hot. If you are not in a condition in which you want the cool food as straight away, then keep it hot at the temperature of around 60°C or even hotter. Reheat your foods thoroughly so that they might start steaming or boiling.

You should not be leaving the hot foods completely to be cooled before the refrigerator. You should be putting the hot food in some freezer or fridge area. You can let it get cooled down as you can instantly dip the main container into some cold water bath or in some ice container.  

  1. You can easily cool them quickly inside the fridge by dividing the food into some smaller containers. 
  2. You should be keeping the chicken, or raw as well as seafood chilled to be completely away from the cooked food. This is because as the bacteria from the raw meat will be making its way into the cooked food, then possibly it will lead to bringing the issues of food poisoning. 
  3. You should be thawing frozen food. This is an important tip to keep in mind. 
  4. You should not be overfilling the fridge at all. It is important to keep enough space inside the fridge for the air circulation which will be effective for cooling purposes. 
  5. In addition, you would also make sure that you have stored all the leftovers safely. You can keep the leftover in the fridge and can easily use it for the next coming 4-5 days. If you are having no such plans to use it, then it would be better to keep it in the freezer. 

You can let your food be stored in the special corrugated food boxes which are just meant for food protection. When you are purchasing food from stores, try to look for the food items which are kept in the window food boxes so it can let you know that what exactly has been stored inside the box.
