Dohar or Razai is a prevalent type of blanket in Southeast Asian countries. If you visited any of these countries or live in one of them, then you’d know what razai or dohar is. It is nothing but the thick blanket, which is suitable for the southeast Asian climates. The Dohars are handmade and are thick blankets. They are different than the cozy sheets or comforters. They are made with the clothes or even the thick threads of wool for ultimate comfort and warmth. It is important to periodically wash the Dohar to keep it clean and in good condition. If not washed regularly, it will cause the Dohar to smell very badly.
If you are not sure how to clean your dohar, then you are in the right place. In this post, we are going to share the detailed information about the ways to clean the Dohar or Razai with ease. All you have to do is to follow the methods, and you’ll get the clean dohar for your sleeping session.
How to Clean a Dohar?
#1 – Choose Detergent and Conditioner
There is quite a variety in the Detergents and fabric conditioners. Some detergents are great for woolen fabric, and some are good for pure cotton. First, check out if your Dohar is made with Wool or Pure cotton. Then shortlist the best detergent. Using the wrong detergent may cause damage to the fabric. Also, choose the right fabric conditioner. Using the right fabric conditioner will make the fabric soft and also keep the dohar in good condition for a long time.
#2 – Use Warm Water
While washing the dohar, you should always use warm water. The water should not be hot at any point. If you are using the washing machine, then prefer using the Hot Water option if you have. Otherwise, using the Warm water to wash the Dohar or razai is the excellent option. If you use the hot water for washing, then it will cause the color to fade up. Also, it can damage the fabric threads.
#3 – Wash by Hands
Take a big tub and soak the dohar in warm water for a few minutes. After that, wash the dohar with your hands. If the dohar has any dark spots over it, then try to remove them. Otherwise, just rub the dohar or razai in clean water. After that, transfer the dohar in another tub, which should contain the detergent water. Soak it in the detergent water for a few minutes and then rub it once again to let the detergent work. Now, you’ll have the clean dohar. Use of the fabric conditioner is optional, but using it is highly advisable.
#4 – Dry the Dohar thoroughly
Drying the dohar thoroughly is very important. Otherwise, the fungus will form inside the threads and will smell very badly. You can make use of the Dryer machine to remove the majority of the moisture. But drying it in the direct sunlight for an entire day or two will help you get rid of all the moisture. Also, drying it in the sun will eliminate all the bad smells. Once dried, you can choose to iron the same or just fold it or use it directly while sleeping.
