Engineering as a career can be very rewarding when done with right mindset. A lot of people buy into the engineering career not driven by their own passion but based on cues offered by relatives & friends.
1. Your passion should drive you to choose engineering
Engineering is so much more than just spending a couple of years in college, hoping to secure a decent job and living happily ever after. If only it were that easy. You can achieve so much more than that if it is your passion that drives you to become an engineer.
Your relatives, parents and friends cannot make the career decision for you, it has to be you which will happen based on your drive, if you are driven to become an engineer if you aspire to become a better engineer then it’s just a matter of following cues leading up to making you an engineer.
2. Choose the engineering department wisely
There’s no such thing as profitable engineering department, the engineering departments that have become redundant such engineering branches are already taken out by institutions. If it hasn’t then do some research and weed out such malicious engineering institutions.
Your choice of engineering department again depends on your capability of serving that department as you pass out of the engineering college and enter the industry of engineering. If you are fascinated by automobiles then it’s fairly obvious that you are gonna have to choose mechanical engineering.
Regardless of your choice always make sure that you keep improvising yourself.
3. Never let go of an opportunity to skill up
The biggest drawback that the engineering industry faces in a lot of developing nations today is skill-gap. If you are doing engineering just for the sake of doing engineering then you may not particularly interested in skilling up which means you may never go out of the way to participate in inter-college events where you need to demonstrate engineering acumen, you may not attend nation level workshops.
It is very important that you skill up while you are still in college so that as you enter the industry your talents can be rewarded. Engineering colleges in Nagpur offers the exact infrastructure needed by students to enhance their engineering skills.
4. It’s not gonna be easy you have to be prepared for hardships
Engineering as an education stream is not as easy as its contemporaries like commerce and arts, commerce and arts are difficult in their own capacity whereas engineering is difficult not in the sense of clearing examinations but in the sense of truly understanding the fundamentals, having the ability to innovate and create unique solutions. Problem solving is the one skill you will need the most.
As an engineer you won’t always have a template following which you can walk your way out. There will be times when the obstacle will hinder your way towards solution.
